Crews in Saluda County recently completed a Cement-Modified Recycled Base (CMRB) project along Hollywood Road. ♻️🛣️

CMRB is a road construction process that pulverizes the existing roadway, mixes it with cement and water, then places the material back on the road and compacts it to create a stronger base; then a smooth, new surface is placed on top.

By using what’s already there, CMRB can help reduce waste, conserve resources, and rebuild a strong roadway.

🚧 The new I-77 interchange in Blythewood is making major progress!🚧

The project includes a connector road from Exit 26 to US 21, along with four new bridges.

One bridge deck has been poured; another bridge will have its deck poured within a few weeks; a third bridge needs 1 more set of girders, and piles are currently being driven for the fourth bridge.

Most of the concrete work on the connector road is complete, and US 21 is expected to reopen by November.

⚠️ SCDOT contractors are at work in Calhoun County! ⚠️

They’re moving quickly to improve the pavement along US 601 between Scenic Drive and Moorer Road, just south of the intersection of US 176, a route used by about 6,300 vehicles each day!

The roadwork is expected to be completed before the end of September.

SCDOT recently hosted a public meeting to inform Lexington County residents about a proposed bridge replacement project on Corley Mill Road over Twelve Mile Creek.

The new bridge will accommodate two 12-foot travel lanes, two 8-foot shoulders, and a variable-width median. The project also includes extending the existing dedicated left-turn lane at the entrance to River Bluff High School to improve access and traffic operations.

Construction is expected to begin in 2028 and will take place in phases over approximately 9-12 months. The new bridge will be built just north of the existing bridge, allowing traffic to continue through the area during construction.
SCDOT welcomes public comment on this project through August 28, 2026. 📣

The Baskins Hill Road (S-29-47) bridge over Baskins Creek in Lancaster County has reopened. Located roughly nine miles southeast of Lancaster, construction on the project began in late 2025 before wrapping up with the new bridge opening on July 31.

The bridge was previously load-restricted and then closed prior to construction. This project highlights SCDOT’s ongoing efforts to reduce the number of load-posted bridges across South Carolina.
