My hometown is having a film festival. I will be there along with some other local filmmakers. If you have a film to submit or know someone who does, please consider submitting.

If you are in the area, come by and watch some great indie films.

Filmmakers: this is your last call to submit to the Swan Lake Premiere Film Festival, September 11–13 at the Sumter Little Theatre.

Screenings, awards, and an audience that shows up for independent film — all in support of veterans in film and youth arts.

Tom Savini is one of the people who inspired me to become an artist and filmmaker, and one of the first people in the industry I ever truly looked up to. I was first introduced to his work through an issue of Fangoria when I was just a kid, and I’ve followed and admired his career ever since.

His creativity and artistry have influenced generations of horror fans and filmmakers, myself included. If you’re able to help Tom during this difficult time, please consider doing so. Every bit of support can make a difference.

Auditions will be held for the first a la carte offering in our 2026-27 season, “Carolina Spirits (and Other Dark Tales)” on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the classroom at Sumter Little Theatre, 14 Mood Ave.

There are roles for adults 18 years and up regardless of race for this special Halloween fundraiser, which will be performed Oct. 30-31. This is a great opportunity for anyone who’s wanted to audition for something but perhaps felt too intimidated by a full-length play.

This adults-only show is curated and directed by Sumer Jarvis and will feature ghost stories, dark tales of the infamous P*e Wee Gaskins, Becky Cotton and Mary Ingleman of Fairfield, as well as a Gullah-Geechee folk tale.
