Together SC
Together SC brings together SC's charitable nonprofits and their allies to advance the greater good. WE ARE ALLIES FOR GOOD!
Together SC was formed in 1997 by nonprofit leaders from across the state. Together SC is South Carolina’s only organization focused solely on supporting and strengthening the state’s nonprofit community through education, advocacy, communications, collaboration and leadership. We are comprised of 800+ members representing nonprofit organizations, business partners, associations, foundations and philanthropic organizations, government agencies and academic institutions. We believe the world will be a better place when all people work together for good. We’re on a mission to strengthen, unite and advance South Carolina’s nonprofit and philanthropic community by learning together, speaking together and leading together.

South Carolina's nonprofit story is bigger than any one number.
It's more than 32,000 organizations.
More than 194,000 jobs represented in the employment analysis.
More than $34 billion in annual expenditures.
It's healthcare. Education. Food security. Arts and culture. Workforce development. Community resilience. Human services. Opportunity.
And behind every data point are organizations and people working every day to make South Carolina stronger.
Now, we have the data to help tell that story.
Together SC partnered with researchers at the USC Upstate George Dean Johnson, Jr. College of Business and Economics to examine publicly available data and better understand the scale and economic impact of South Carolina's nonprofit sector.

A great day of ideas, connection, and practical fundraising strategies at the 2026 Development Peer Network Symposium on Isle of Palms.
Nonprofit development professionals from across South Carolina came together to explore creative ways to fundraise in uncertain times, with conversations focused on strengthening donor relationships, using data to support the ask, cultivating long-term support, and learning from one another.
Thank you to Robin Berlinsky, our panelists, Thrivent, and everyone who shared their expertise and experience throughout the day.
We’re especially grateful to the members of Together SC’s Development Peer Network for continuing to create space for honest conversations, peer learning, and stronger fundraising across South Carolina’s nonprofit sector.

$34.4 billion moves through South Carolina communities.
In 2023, South Carolina nonprofits reported more than $34.4 billion in expenditures.
Those dollars help pay employees.
They purchase goods and services.
They support local vendors and contractors.
They operate hospitals, schools and community programs.
They fund missions serving people across South Carolina.
And that spending creates economic activity far beyond the walls of any one nonprofit organization.
This is an important part of the nonprofit story:
Every dollar invested in mission is also part of South Carolina's economic ecosystem.
See the numbers behind the impact in the 2026 South Carolina Sector Impact Report:

In honor of National Voter Registration Day, and in partnership with Nonprofit VOTE and the National Council of Nonprofits, Together SC is excited to release the 2026 SC Voter Engagement Guide for nonprofits!
Nonprofits can play an important role in voter engagement, but it is not always clear what organizations are allowed to do, which activities may be most effective, or how to explain the importance of this work to staff, board members, and other stakeholders.
This guide is designed to help nonprofits navigate all of it.
Paired with the SC Voter Guide, which helps individual voters better understand their ballot, the Voter Engagement Guide helps nonprofits explore practical, nonpartisan ways to encourage every eligible South Carolinian to make their voice heard at the ballot box.
Download the guide today:
