Been asked a few times now about building a 5.300 Bore Space 959-998 for fast bracket racing or index racing. NA, no N2O. They make approximately 1800-1850 with no spray. Maybe put a bit more compression and a cam change Would be an interesting build. What’s the thoughts of the Top Sportsman/Dragster guys as well as the fast bracket guys?

So I wanted to follow up on an event that happened this week. If you read about the “interview “ and commented, I appreciate your input. I think there were some great points on both sides. I’m sure I ruffled some feathers but that’s ok. Because at the end of the day, it is my decision. So here is my advice to ANYONE looking to go to work for someone. Part time, full time, etc.
Treat it like it’s the biggest move in your career. Like your life goals depend on it. Have a resume. Even if it is just who you are, what you have done and what you’re working towards. Mowing lawns, babysitting the neighbors, working on cars with dad etc. it is ALL worth talking about in the beginning of your life’s journey. After all, you’re selling yourself and your desire to do a job. It also gives your prospective employer a sense of direction.
Next, if you’re a young adult, absolutely bring your parents to meet your potential employer. Easy enough. But don’t forget, you are interviewing, not your parents. You do the talking. Introduce them and then tell them to wait in the car. That’s what makes a great first impression. You making decisions. Second. Speek with confidence. This means act the way you do when you are just living. We ALL have insecurities and can be nervous. Trust me, we can see it. IT DOSENT MATTER! It’s part of the process. Third. When the interview is done, stand up, look them in the eye, shake their hand and thank them for their time. Your first impression is everything. Even for the “old guys” like me. You give a bad one and it’s everlasting.

Being a young person these days is hard. It’s like my generation, GenX missed something in the “you got this phase” of parenting. We come from a generation of just rub some dirt on it and it will be ok. But we also come from a generation of everything is earned. We did things on our own, and we make our own decisions. Good or bad. The key to that is make the easy ones when you are young and become an expert on what not to do when you’re older when it really counts.

I hope this helps with someone somehow. Life is a journey and we all have different perspectives. But we have gotten away from the reality of what it takes to make it. So much these day is just given, and more and more is not earned. You have to have the “want too” to make it happen big! So I ask this question. How bad do you want it?

So, what’s on my mind Facebook asked.

Well today I interviewed a tear down kid. High School age. Probably Jr or Senior. Nice kid. Polite, well spoken and most important, on time. He came in the shop and he watched us disassemble a portion of a Pro Nitrous engine. We explained what we were doing, looking for and some other things. He look like a dear in headlights. No problem! We ALL started somewhere. Moving on to the interview, I told him what I expected, for the hours he could work as well as what we would start his pay at. He ask “how much is that per week”? Fair enough question. I told him and he says he makes more at the grocery store he is currently working at. So I ask the question how much and it was $30.00 bucks a week more. $30.00 bucks! He then says I need to ask my dad about this.
I have come to the realization that this generation of kids are not going to be able to get anywhere in life because they’re not going to be able to make their own decisions. I blame Covid. Ya I said it. A generation of kid that were home schooled and their helicopter parents allowed zero opportunity to mess up and learn from their mistakes.

When dreams become reality. David and Daniel Designed Performance getting these 5.300 Bore Space blocks to the "rough stage" so they can be sent out to heat treat. It's amazing to me that a 900 lb chunk of aluminum can become 998 Cubic Inches of nitrous consuming madness!

No prep racing Wyoming style. Over fifty cars, 1000+ people and ZERO drama. It’s the way it should be. 1/8 mile racing on concrete country road.

Well folks, if Chad says it’s OK, then it’s OK! In all seriousness. We are happy he likes our machine work and we are ready to release this to the wild! Hit us up or Chad for the details or any “special requests” and we’ll do our best to bring a great set of heads for your next build or update something you already have.
