The 2026 edition of eFields is in progress right now, in the fields! As trials are being harvested on partner farms, data is being collected for analysis for the eFields Report. Follow along with us the next few months to get some sneak peeks of what the 2026 eFields Report will have in store.
The first sneak peek is on a study focused on the use of an impact mill as an alternative w**d control option in organic soybeans, in combination with cover crops and electric w**d zapping. The use of harvest w**d seed control (HWSC), w**d zapping, and cover crops provides a well-rounded integrated w**d management strategy for organic farmers. The goal: to reduce the w**d seed bank, which, in turn, could reduce the number of w**d escapes each year after multiple years of implementing these practices in the same field.
The 2026 eFields Report will be released in January - until then, check out the 2025 eFields Report and the impactful data and results from last season at go.osu.edu/eFields!

Through coordinated tar spot surveillance trials county Extension Educators scout fields and work with farmers to gather management information and field history. By analyzing tar spot presence along with field information, experts at Ohio State can continue to update decision tools and recommendations. Find the summary of the first year of the eFields Tar Spot Surveillance study in the 2025 eFields Report (go.osu.edu/efields) on pages 118-119. The second year of the eFields Tar Spot Surveillance study is well underway this summer and will be included in the 2026 eFields Report, released in January.
Check out some helpful management and decision-making tools, shared by the Ohio State Agronomy team, that are available now!
Tar spot has been found in several Ohio counties this season and as corn fields reach tasseling now is a great time to revisit tar spot management strategies and decision-support tools 🌽

eFields Highlight #6: The eFields program has helped accelerate the evaluation of emerging technologies, like biologicals, drones, and automated equipment. This has helped farmers identify where products do not consistently return profit under Ohio field conditions and reducing the risk of premature adoption.
