Pasting and Preserving Ohio History Through Scrapbooks

Discover how Ohioans have used scrapbooks to preserve their everyday memories and make meaning of historical events. In this program, Ohio History Connection Interpretation and Content Specialist Wendy Korwin will introduce you to unique scrapbooks from the Ohio History Connection’s archives. Through these examples, explore the history of scrapbooking and discuss some of the challenges of preserving these fragile, deeply personal artifacts.

See Georgetown as the General of the Army, and Our 18th President did in his youth. Our “Ohio Open Doors” Ohio History Connection event will be on September 12, 2026 from 12 Noon until 5PM. All three of our U.S. Grant sites will be available. The Grant Homestead & One-room School will be open for tours. The Tannery has just had the exterior finished— but the interior is not open to the public yet—(although you might be the first to get an exterior peek inside at Ohio Open Doors!) The tannery’s transformation takes it back to 1823. Be among the first to hear the stories of tanning, Ulysses’ hate for its sights and sounds there, and a murder!
