This week’s trainings for C.G. Women’s Empowerment (CGWE) in Oromia, Ethiopia focused on this year’s new beneficiaries and covered Dabaree/reciprocity program, animal husbandry, money-saving, small business skills, and cultivating creativity. The trainings went very well!

Since 2012, CGWE has been dedicated to breaking the cycle of economic disenfranchisement by gifting heifers to amazing women in need, alongside providing training in savings and basic business skills. We would love for you to be part of the celebration at this anniversary event! C.G. Womens Empowerment – Lifting Communities by empowering women through reciprocity The mission of C.G. Women’s Empowerment is to create economic self-sufficiency for women, children, and entire villages in Ethiopia’s Oromia region.

C.G. Women’s Empowerment (CGWE) continues providing cows to women in need in rural Oromia, Ethiopia through its women’s and children’s empowerment program. Rooted in the Oromo tradition of Dabaree—“giving forward”—this initiative helps families build sustainable livelihoods while strengthening communities through shared support.

These joyful women are pictured at the local cattle market with the cows they selected. Each cow represents hope, opportunity, and a step toward a more secure future for their families.

It was an honor to be invited as a guest speaker at the Columbus Rotary to share my story and the powerful lesson that talking to a stranger can make a massive difference in someone’s life.
