Sometimes the best camp lessons happen when you're having so much fun you don't even realize you're learning.

What an incredible day as Godman Guild Association and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio officially celebrated the ribbon cutting and open house of our shared headquarters. ✨

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate this exciting milestone.

Summer at Camp Mary Orton is officially in full swing!

From the treetops to the target range, our campers are already rising to new challenges and clipping in on the high ropes course, finding their focus in archery, and building confidence with every step (and shot).
It’s more than just summer fun; it’s courage, growth, and unforgettable moments in the making.
Because out here, every climb, every try, every cheer reminds us: Next Starts Here.

Last night at The Reeb Center, we kicked off another powerful session with an incredible group of young adults ready to take their next step. From earning certifications and diploma seals to building real momentum toward their goals—this is where it begins.
We’re proud to be a resource, a connector, and a place where ambition turns into action (and yes—money, money, money ).

How it started. How it’s going.

In May of 1900, construction began on the first Godman Guild House on West Goodale Street, created to serve the residents of Flytown. The six-room building included two kindergartens, a reading room, a smoking room, a space for domestic science, and a public bath; the first of its kind in Columbus.
At the time, more than 10,000 people living within a two-mile radius had no bathing facilities in their homes.

By 1902, the Guild expanded to offer formal classes in sewing, cooking, and woodworking, along with 15 clubs serving all ages—creating a place where community members could learn, connect, and grow.

More than a century later, that same spirit continues.
Today, Godman Guild serves youth, adults, and families across Central Ohio through education, workforce development, and programs that build confidence and opportunity. From helping adults earn credentials and prepare for careers, to supporting kids’ academic and social growth, to creating meaningful experiences at Camp Mary Orton—we continue to meet people where they are and help them move forward.

And now, a new chapter begins.

This month, we open our doors at 555 South Front Street in the Brewery District, co-locating with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio. Together, we’re creating a more connected, accessible space that supports individuals and families at every stage—from early mentorship to career readiness and long-term stability.
Because for us, Next starts here. And it always has.

As we get ready to welcome campers back next week, we’re feeling incredibly grateful for the volunteers who help make Camp Mary Orton shine.

CMO counselors are already putting in the work to make this summer unforgettable!
Our Adventure Academy and Discovery Day Camp teams have officially completed the first week of training and are building skills in adventure activities, team-building, games, and group management to ensure every camper has a fun, safe, and supportive experience.
But this training is about more than just planning great activities. It’s about preparing to create a space where young people can grow in confidence, build relationships, and discover what they’re capable of, which is core to our mission of helping individuals reach their next step.
We can’t wait to welcome campers this summer and watch those next steps begin at Camp Mary Orton .
