Did you know, Breastfeeding contributes to decreasing the risk of infant mortality?

Last month, we wrapped up Breastfeeding Month and Black Breastfeeding Week with a special panel featuring breastfeeding moms who shared their personal breastfeeding journeys.Throughout our sessions, we had the opportunity to hear about both the joys and challenges that come with breastfeeding while highlighting the importance of breastfeeding, infant health, and the power of community support.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this event so special, especially all of the past and current moms who shared their stories, experiences, and encouragement.

And a special thank you to Kathy at I Support the Girls for the generous donation of nursing bras! Your support helps us continue to uplift and empower breastfeeding families in our community. 💕🤱🏾

Together, we’re creating a community where mothers feel supported, informed, and empowered throughout their breastfeeding journeys.

National Infant Mortality Awareness Month
September is National Infant Mortality Awareness Month, raising awareness about infant deaths before the first birthday and promoting healthier pregnancies and better birth outcomes.

Prevention & Recommendations

-Practice safe infant sleepplace babies on their backs in a separate crib without loose bedding or toys.

-Begin prenatal care during the first trimester.

-Avoid alcohol, to***co, and illicit drugs during pregnancy.

-Manage chronic health conditions before and between pregnancies.

-Seek medical care promptly for pregnancy or postpartum concerns.
