Sam's Fans

A 5 year-year-old boy had to receive dressing changes twice a week, which can be long and painful. The Music Therapist and Child Life Specialist worked together to provide support and distraction during these uncomfortable dressing changes. The Music Therapist would hold the piano for the patient, and he was able to play while lying on his side. He would sing his favorite songs, and they even wrote a rap song using his name!

After 99 days in the hospital, they had a celebration on the day of his discharge and him, his family and his treatment team all sang his song together! 🥰🎶

Sam’s Fans wants to give a big shoutout to the Music Therapy team at Dayton Children’s Hospital! They bring so much joy to their patients and their families during difficult times.

Before 2017, Dayton Children’s did not have a Music Therapy program. Sam’s Fans is beyond proud of bringing that program to Dayton and we are thrilled to see it grow! Thank you to all the wonderful Music Therapists out there. 🥰🎶🐞

Nikki visited the ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children’s Hospital recently and got to visit with Music Therapist, Taylor, and sit through a Music Therapy session! It was extremely rewarding seeing the difference Sam’s Fans has made in their Music and Art Therapy program and it motivates us to keep going.
