Think you know the basics of cybersecurity? You might be surprised.
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and some of the most common beliefs about cybersecurity are also some of the most dangerous. When myths go unchallenged, they create blind spots that criminals are quick to exploit.
This month, we're setting the record straight.

AI is helping IT teams work faster.
Ask your IT director whether the workload got smaller. Most will say no.
Every new tool creates decisions, responsibilities, and expectations somebody has to own…

Not every account in your business carries the same weight.
Some accounts can change everything: your email, your files, your security settings, all at once.
We review admin rights on every new client. Most companies have more of them than they think. You should know exactly who has administrator rights, whether they still need them, and how those accounts are being protected…

We've noticed something about how businesses in Oregon are adopting AI.
For most people, it's still something to try. A few prompts, a new feature, a little time saved during the day.
Your IT director doesn't get that luxury.
The moment AI becomes useful to the business, someone has to think about what comes next.
How do people access it?
What data can it see?
Who approves which tools?
What happens when someone wants to connect it to the accounting system?
Those questions decide whether it still works for the business two years from now.
That's the part of AI adoption nobody talks about. The excitement is in what the technology does. The work is in governance, access, and how it fits the rest of the environment.
Finding time for that inside a normal IT week is the hard part.
One approach we've seen work is co-managed support. An outside team keeps the daily operational work moving while your IT lead builds the foundation AI needs. The decisions get the time they deserve instead of whatever gaps are left in a busy week.
🤔 Which do you think takes more effort: bringing AI into the business, or looking after it once everyone depends on it?
The biggest AI risk in your business may not be AI.
It may be that nobody in the building is talking about it.
Owners across Oregon are surprised when they find out how fast new tools show up in everyday work, and what comes along with them…
Some advice deserves to be left on read.
But cybersecurity myths have a way of sticking around even after they're proven wrong. Believing them can create the blind spots cybercriminals are counting on.
In our latest blog post, we go through six of the most common myths small businesses still believe and what the truth really looks like.

Think about what you rely on most from the person running IT at your company.
Prioritization. Judgment. Knowing where their time does the most good.
That role keeps growing. So do the demands on it…

Most meeting problems start after the meeting ends.
🤔 Who owns the follow-up?
🤔 What did we decide?
🤔 Where did the notes go?
Microsoft is going after all three in Teams. A new update brings AI notes into face-to-face meetings, so even with everyone in the same conference room, Teams can capture the discussion points, decisions, and action items as they happen.
That's a better use of AI than asking it to write something nobody asked for.
Most offices don't need more information. They need to stop losing the information they already have.
We've all sat in the meeting where everyone agreed on next steps, then remembered them three different ways a week later. An accurate record ends that argument before it starts.
A few smaller improvements ride along. Chats get easier to organize, guest invites come from the organizer instead of a no-reply address, and Microsoft keeps adding controls for when AI is and isn't in the room.
That last part matters. A partner meeting at a law firm or a board session at a nonprofit may be one you'd rather not have transcribed. Having the switch is the point.
What's the bigger headache after your meetings: remembering decisions, tracking who owns what, or finding the notes again?

10D Tech has been named a finalist for the 2026 MSP Titans of the Industry Awards in the Community Impact category.
This is a global award. IT providers from around the world applied, and eleven made the finalist list. One of them is a team based in Corvallis and Portland, Oregon.
This category doesn't measure revenue, headcount, or technical expertise. We've been recognized for that already, as a 2024 Pacific Northwest regional finalist. Community Impact recognizes something different: IT providers who show up for the communities they live in.
We didn't start that campaign last year. 10D Tech has been in business for 20 years, and supporting the nonprofits our communities depend on has been part of how we operate since day one. Not a program, not an initiative. Just how we've always done it.
In 2025 alone, that meant more than $200,000 in donated, discounted, and prioritized technology support to 15 Pacific Northwest organizations serving youth, families in crisis, students, patients, and people recovering from addiction. When their systems stay secure and available, they serve more people. That's the whole idea.
Thank you to the 10D Tech team who treat Pacific Northwest businesses and nonprofits like neighbors, because they are. And congratulations to the other ten finalists. Good company to be in.
Winners are announced soon. Either way, twenty years of showing up is what got us here.
