🦠 What should you know about the current Cyclospora outbreak? A multistate outbreak of Cyclospora, a parasite that causes cyclosporiasis, is under investigation. The illness spreads when people consume food or water contaminated with the parasite—most commonly fresh produce. It is unlikely to spread directly from person to person because the parasite needs time (days to weeks) in the environment to become infectious.

If you work in agriculture or handle fresh produce, remember:
✅ Wash your hands often, especially before eating or preparing food.
✅ Rinse fresh fruits and vegetables thoroughly under running water.
✅ Use safe sanitation practices when handling produce.
✅ Seek medical care if you develop persistent watery diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, or severe fatigue.
