“Selfless act” may not be one of the seven cooperative principles, but it’s the best way to describe what Lead Lineman Colby Chapman did for the Newton County Schools Special Olympics heading into this school year.
Earlier this summer, SSEMC employees held a 50/50 raffle, with half of the proceeds benefiting Newton County Special Olympics and the other half going to one lucky winner. When Colby’s name was drawn, he decided to give his entire $1,250 share right back, bringing the total donation to $2,500. LaTrelle Cawthon with the Newton County Special Olympics joined employees to draw the winning ticket and share more about the impact the program has on local students.
Thank you, Colby, for being a standout example of what it means to serve others and put Concern for Community into action.

Snapping Shoals EMC has sent 10 linemen to Habersham EMC to assist with widespread power outages in their territory following last night's storms. Please pray for the safety of our linemen and those who have been affected by the storm.
In difficult times, electric cooperatives like Snapping Shoals EMC support one another through mutual aid assistance. Co-ops work together to meet challenges, such as power restoration after a severe weather event. Through the system of mutual aid, we coordinate with other co-ops to bring additional trucks, equipment and manpower to an area. We work together and share resources to restore power to our community when we need help, and SSEMC reciprocates by assisting other electric co-ops when they need help. See less

Snapping Shoals EMC staff were proud to support the second annual Henry County Public Schools Foundation's Stuff the Bus campaign, helping collect school supplies for local teachers and students ahead of the new school year.
The initiative helps ensure classrooms are stocked with essential supplies while easing the financial burden many teachers face purchasing materials out of pocket. We're grateful to our employees for giving their time to support students and teachers in our community.
