September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, so we figured it was time to have a conversation about something a lot of men would rather not talk about: their prostates.

STHS colleagues rally around NICU Read-A-Thon 📖✨

Earlier this week, STHS President and CEO Joan Coffman, Chief Nursing Officer Lori Sumner and AVP of Home Care Services Paula Toups, all stopped by the NICU to read to babies currently on the unit.

Preparedness is part of good patient care – especially when it comes to infectious diseases that require specialized knowledge and response. 🚨

Members of the STHS Infection Prevention team recently joined health care professionals from across the region for NETEC’s Outbreak Ready: Special Pathogen Preparedness and Response Training in New Orleans. The Sept. 22 training focused on strengthening the skills, knowledge and readiness needed to respond safely and effectively to special pathogen events.

Congratulations to St. Tammany Health System LPN Kaitlyn Mentel (Emergency Care Services) and Nurse Manager Maria Turner (Pediatrics), who have been named recipients of the Med Staff’s scholarships for fall 2026. 🎉

As part of the awards, Kaitlyn and Maria will each receive $2,000 to go toward education expenses as they continue to broaden their medical knowledge.

More than 200 people gathered Saturday, Sept. 19, for St. Tammany Health System’s inaugural Walking with Angels: A Walk of Remembrance. ❤️

We are grateful to our community, as well as the family members and friends who walked alongside those who have experienced the loss of a child through stillbirth, miscarriage or death after infancy.
