Gordon Air Conditioning

Since 1979, a lot has changed in the HVAC business — equipment, refrigerants, controls, efficiency standards, and technology.

The basic job hasn’t changed much at Gordon Air:

Find the problem. Explain it straight. Fix what needs fixing. And don’t sell people something they don’t need.

That philosophy has worked pretty well for 47 years.

Quick HVAC myth:

Turning the thermostat down to 60° does not make the air conditioner cool the house faster.

Most residential systems cool at the same rate either way. You’re not pressing harder on the gas — you’re just moving the finish line.

Set it where you want it and let the system do its job.

A dirty blower wheel doesn’t look dramatic, but it can quietly steal airflow from the entire system.

When airflow drops, rooms get harder to cool, run times get longer, and the equipment has to work harder than it should.

That’s one reason real HVAC maintenance is more than changing a filter and calling it done. The parts you don’t see matter too.

Before social media, this is how you announced a business.

This was Gordon Air Conditioning’s ribbon cutting in Crestview around 1980–81, just a year or two after Dad started the company in 1979.

I’m holding the ribbon. Mom is to my right, Dad is behind me, Rex is behind Dad, Trish is behind Mom, B.W. Weatherington is behind Trish, and Nancy is on the far right. Rayford Duck and Howard Foster are in front.

A lot has changed since this picture was taken, but one thing hasn’t — Gordon Air is still here serving the same community more than 45 years later.
