Two businesses. Same 4.5-star rating. One's gaining customers every month. The other's quietly losing them to a competitor down the street — with zero
bad reviews to explain why.

Your star rating is a snapshot, frozen in time. Your competitive position isn't. It's moving every day, based on signals most owners never think to check
— review velocity, reply speed, map-pack coverage, how fast you recover from a bad review, even how fresh your photos are.

None of these is dramatic on its own. But a competitor who's slightly ahead on all six isn't slightly ahead overall — they're pulling away, month after
month, in ways you'd never catch just by glancing at everyone's rating.

So which business are you? https://www.premiertbs.com/blog/why-your-4-5-star-rating-might-not-be-enough-anymore

Why ratings alone don't tell the story
Here's something most local business owners don't realize: two businesses can both sit at 4.5 stars and still be worlds apart competitively.

What actually matters is the trend — is your review velocity keeping pace with the business down the street? Are you responding to reviews fast enough? Is your negative feedback getting addressed, or just sitting there for future customers to find?

Star rating is a snapshot. These other signals are the real story of who's winning locally right now.
