Remember when polished manners and effortless grace were a rite of passage?

In today’s fast-paced world, watching your child grow into a respectful, confident young adult is a rare joy. Cotillion offers a time-honored environment where etiquette, dance, and social confidence come together naturally.

Clarifying the Cotillion Dress Code - Footwear.

House shoes, clogs, Crocs, flip-flops, slides, sandals, sneakers, tennis shoes, booties, and boots are not considered acceptable footwear. Both because these are all considered casual/informal and because they are not good for dancing!

Shoes should be:
- closed-toed
- hard-soled
- formal-minded
- comfortable

Clarifying the Cotillion Dress Code - Young gentlemen are asked to wear a blazer, sport coat, or traditional suit; dress shirt and tie; dress slacks; and brown or black dress shoes.

Most young men wear blue, grey, black, or tan suits or suit separates. Khakis or chinos are accepted as well.

They should wear dress shoes; tennis shoes are not accepted. We prefer hard-soled dress shoes over the sneaker-style ones that have become more popular recently. Secure loafers are accepted as well.

They are welcome to add accessories as they choose! Tie bars, lapel pins, pocket squares, cufflinks, and/or bow ties are all fun additions to their ensemble.

Clarifying the Cotillion Dress Code - Young ladies are asked to wear a conservative dress or dress skirt (not more than three inches above the knee) and blouse; flats or low heels.

We recommend a cardigan, bolero, or shrug if their dress is sleeveless (remember spaghetti straps and strapless dresses are not allowed). Ballrooms can get cold, and the standard dance frame does require the gentlemen to place their hand on the lady's shoulder blade - it can get awkward!

We have no requirement for hosiery or color of dress. Ladies are welcome to wear what makes them most comfortable.

Closed-toed shoes are recommended! Toes unfortunately do get stepped on, and shoes should be secure and stable enough for both walking and dancing. Pro-tip: Save the higher, thinner heels for prom! Chunky heels are your best friend in this case.

The Psychology of Color: PURPLE

In Cotillion, color isn’t a dress code requirement, but it is a toolkit for self-expression and perception!

Purple is for the original thinkers who aren't afraid to bring their unique creative perspective to the table.💜

Interpersonal skills aren't taught in the classroom but inevitably decide who gets a seat in the boardroom. While intelligence and academics get them in the door, self-assurance keeps them there.

Cotillion teaches your children the real-world social intelligence, body language, and confidence required to navigate high-stakes environments with ease.

From formal dining to effortless conversation, give your child a set of skills that set them apart early! Reserve Their Seat at the Table Today with the link below; seats are limited.

The Psychology of Color: BLUE

Our goal isn't to put kids in a box; it’s to give them the tools to navigate the world with intention, right down to the details of their personal presentation.🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

Blue suits are considered the standard in business attire; think about lawyers and bankers. Blue gives off a 'you can count on me' vibe, which is an incredible foundation for building strong relationships based on teamwork and respect.💙

Lady Mary Wortley Montagu was a British author, noblewoman, philanthropist, poet, traveler, and general eccentric.

Known for her prolific letter writing, she is also responsible for transporting and championing the Smallpox vaccine in England after seeing its effectiveness in Turkey (where she lived with her husband, who was the ambassador to Constantinople).

Her words challenged views, her works saved lives, and all the while, she still saw the value of being kind and polite regardless.
