Ingredients
2 servings
1
banana, frozen
2
4-ounce packets pure, unsweetened acai purée
¾
cup nut, rice, or seed milk
2
Medjool dates, pitted
½
cup chopped frozen mango
½
cup frozen blueberries
½
cup torn kale leaves
¼
cup plain full-fat Greek yogurt
1
tablespoon fresh lime juice
2
teaspoons maca powder
Pinch of kosher salt
TOPPINGS SUGGESTIONS
Crushed cereal
Golden berries
Toasted coconut flakes
Goji berries
Dried figs
Cocoa nibs
Preparation
Step 1
Place 2 small serving bowls in freezer to put a hard chill on them (this makes for a better acai bowl since it helps keep mixture tight and prevents melting). Cut off one-quarter of banana and set aside for serving.
Step 2
Using a hammer, rolling pin, or heavy skillet, crush acai packets. Pour milk into a blender. Add acai, dates, mango, blueberries, kale, yogurt, lime juice, maca powder, salt, and remaining frozen banana. Blend on low speed to combine, then gradually work your way up to high (you may need to use the tamping/stirring tool to get everything going). Blend until mixture is well combined and very thick but still spoon-able; don’t overblend or mixture will be too soupy and will begin to warm up from the friction of the blender.
Step 3
Divide acai mixture between chilled bowls and top with different toppings, including reserved banana. You can really use any toppings you want; that’s the best part!

Here’s the perfect banana smoothie recipe: frothy, creamy, and just the right sweet flavor! It’s made with unfrozen bananas so it’s made in minutes.
INGREDIENTS
2 medium ripe bananas (room temperature)
1 1/2 cups ice
1/4 cup Greek yogurt*
1/2 to 3/4 cup milk or nondairy milk (like almond, oat or coconut milk)
Optional mix-ins: 1 tablespoon peanut butter, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 to 2 tablespoons coconut or toasted coconut
INSTRUCTIONS
Place all ingredients in a blender, breaking the banana into pieces (start with 1/2 cup milk, then increase as necessary). Blend until creamy and frothy, stopping and scraping down the sides as necessary. If desired, garnish with banana slice and toasted coconut. Serve immediately or store in a covered jar in the refrigerator for 2 days.

High calorie smoothies are a great way to add calories and get an extra boost of nutrition. When someone is experiencing unintended weight loss or just needs to gain a few pounds, calories are the answer. Sometimes it's hard to get additional calories from regular meals.

With water, your smoothie will be less creamy and the flavour of your individual ingredients will be more evident (this could be a good or bad thing depending on if you've blended a greener or fruitier smoothie). Almond milk is definitely a crowd-pleaser. It has the same consistency of milk and half the calories.

Because there are many ways to make a green smoothie, it's possible to add too many sugars, carbohydrates, or fats. The potent vitamin content in leafy greens may also be unsuitable for people with certain medical conditions. Leafy greens are naturally low in calories and fat.

Another make-ahead option is to blend a smoothie in the blender, then pour the smoothie into freezer-safe Mason jars, and freeze. ... The night before you plan to drink the smoothie, place a smoothie jar in the fridge and defrost overnight. You can also leave the smoothie on the counter for a few hours for a quick defrost.
