Mayfield Elementary

Today was apple day in Ms. Lucas’s first grade classroom. They talked about sequencing while making apple pie play doh. They also made apple hats, and a book about apple the Lifecycle. Then they took a virtual field trip to an apple orchard, conducted an apple investigation using their 5 senses. Finally, they finished the day by reading about Johnny Appleseed.

Mayfield is incredibly thankful for our amazing custodial crew, Ms. Elia, Mr. Michael, and Mr. Rene. We appreciate all they do each day to keep our building clean, safe, and well cared for so that our students and staff have a welcoming place to learn and work. We are grateful for their hard work and dedication!

This week in Mrs. Hudgins’ Math Class, they are learning to add two-digit numbers without regrouping. They are using base-ten blocks to help us solve the problems. The students are enjoying learning with hands-on activities!

Ms. Thornton's class enjoys Popcorn 🍿 + Social Studies = making it through a rainy Friday!

This week, in Ms. Bush's class, students have been working on identifying how different emotions and feelings can make our bodies feel and recognizing physical signs of those emotions. In math, they have been practicing addition without regrouping.

Ms. Bacon’s homeroom class had a great time in Ms. Glover’s Computer Classroom learning all about what it means to be kind, respectful, and responsible online!

Using a new interactive app, our students worked through fun scenarios and learned that the choices we make online matter just as much as the choices we make in person.

Ms. Nivens 4th grade Social studies students were putting together Texas Themed paintings for the Ft. Worth stock show. Also, students were doing a Science review game for the upcoming 9 weeks test.

Ms. Kirk's 5th grade math classes are working on activities over financial literacy, add and subtract decimals, vocabulary match, and fact fluency to get ready for the 9 weeks test next week.
