ForPsyte Talent Assessments
ForPsyte delivers scientifically-validated talent solutions that transform organizational performance through predictive assessments and data-driven insights.
If you are hiring an executive, or any employee for that matter, start with one question: What does success actually look like in THIS organization for this role/job family? Not at another company. Not according to a generic job description.
Then build your assessment process around that. Personality, cognitive ability, situational judgment, competencies and structured interviews can all tell you something different given the context around that role. Just as you wouldn’t hire a fry cook to be your heart surgeon based on their background you need to align the measurement in the assessment to the traits that align to performance for that role.

There are a LOT of employee assessments out there, and almost every provider will tell you theirs is valid. But valid for what? Did they actually do the hard work to analyze and validate or do they have clever marketing?
An assessment might do a great job describing someone's personality. That does not automatically mean it can predict whether that person will perform well in the job you are hiring them for. That distinction matters.
Before adding another assessment to your hiring process, make sure you understand what it was actually designed and validated to measure. See the link in the comments to download our Assessment Provider Checklist.
Watch the video for our take on why the assessment market can feel a little like the Wild West. Not sure if your current assessment is giving your hiring team the right information?

If you are using an assessment to make hiring decisions, is it actually predicting anything or just describing the person’s behavior? Is your assessment linked to any HR or business outcomes?
A good assessment will help you answer questions that matter. Will this person perform well in the role? Are they more likely to stay? Can we improve quality of hire? Can we identify stronger candidates earlier in the process?
An assessment should give your hiring team useful information, not just another score to look at. Watch the video to hear the breakdown of why this matters.

Where does the Big Five personality model actually come from?
It’s not just five traits someone decided were important. When researchers study the statistical relationships between patterns of personality and behavior, an underlying structure emerges.
That structure is commonly known as the Big Five, or OCEAN:
Openness
Conscientiousness
Extraversion
Agreeableness
Neuroticism
Understanding the science and mathematical structure behind an assessment matters, especially when you’re using the results to make decisions about people.

Not all personality assessments are created equal.
One of the most important things to look at is construct validity. In simple terms, is the assessment actually measuring what it claims to measure?
A great example is the Five Factor Model, commonly known as OCEAN:
Openness
Conscientiousness
Extraversion
Agreeableness
Neuroticism
These five dimensions provide a research-backed framework for understanding personality and behavior in the workplace.
Because an assessment is only valuable if you can trust what it’s actually measuring.
How many assessments are you currently using in your hiring or leadership process? We are curious where others are seeing diminishing returns.
What does it actually take to be a great CEO? Or a successful marketing executive?
With leadership roles, it’s much harder to pinpoint the exact qualities that will make someone successful. That’s why having a strong base rate for the traits and behaviors of high performers in a specific leadership role can be so valuable.
Assessments can help organizations understand what successful leaders tend to have in common and use those insights to make more informed hiring and development decisions.
Because the qualities that make a great CEO aren’t necessarily the same ones that make a great marketing executive.
Every organization is different, and the right assessment strategy should reflect that. If you want to talk through yours, send us a DM.
For some roles, the behavioral traits you’re looking for can seem pretty obvious.
An accountant may need to be highly detail-oriented. A bartender may need to be naturally sociable and comfortable connecting with people.
But what happens when you’re hiring a leader?
Leadership roles are much more complex. No single personality type or behavioral pattern automatically predicts success. That’s where the right assessments can help uncover how someone thinks, leads, communicates, and responds to different situations.
Every organization is different, and the right assessment strategy should reflect that. If you want to talk through yours, send us a DM.
The best teams aren’t made up of people who all think and behave the same way.
Diversity in behavioral patterns brings different perspectives, approaches, and ways of solving problems to the table. And research shows that a little healthy conflict can actually be good for a team.
When everyone agrees all the time, you may be missing the conversations that lead to better ideas and better decisions.
The goal isn’t to eliminate conflict. It’s to build teams with the right mix of people who can challenge each other productively.

MYTH: A strong brand and referrals already surface the best people; assessments will not improve results.
Strong brands and referrals are a good problem to have; they create a big pool fast. The challenge is separating great from good when many applicants look qualified. Short, job-related assessments help recruiters make fair, consistent comparisons at scale and keep quality steady across channels.
• Use the same assessment and interview rules for all standards, to stay consistent, and you can differentiate between good and great
• Prioritize to the top of the list by score band, then use structured interviews to confirm fit
• Compare referral outcomes to other sources each quarter and tune sourcing based on results
More assessments don’t always mean better insights.
Once you get beyond 3 or 4 assessments, you can start to see diminishing returns. The key isn’t how many assessments you use. It’s choosing the right ones for what you actually need to understand.
And sometimes, that means going beyond skills and capabilities to assess something just as important: Will this person thrive in your company’s specific culture?
The right assessment strategy helps you get the insights that matter without overcomplicating the process.
Not sure if you’re using the right assessments or too many? Send us a message. We would be happy to talk through what might make sense for your team.
