Founder’s Vision and Purpose:
L. (Learning with the Understanding and Vision for Education), was founded in 2011 by Ruby Clarice Dickerson. Dickerson initially had a vision to assist high school dropouts in her community, improve their basic educational skills, obtain their GED, and become productive citizens. Because of Ms. Dickerson’s vision, she was selected as the first African American female to receive support and backing by the Memnosyne Foundation to start-up this adult education program in the Joppa community of Southeast Dallas, Texas.
