Official site of Matriarch Emerges Spryte is a Midwest Emcee from Green Bay, Wisconsin. She started rhyming when she was 8 years old to B side instrumentals on cassette tapes. Run DMC, salt n Pepa, ll cool jay, Mc lyte, Tupac, Dr Dre and wutang clan were some of her early influences. After seeing Blind Fury on the BET,MTV battles she became a Fury Fan for Life! Later in life she fell in love with Eminem and his style. Spryte started engaging in corner street battles in Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Chicago, Madison, Gary and Detroit. Once she entered her first club battle and was always the lone white face in the crowd. Quickly winning over the crowds she was an underground icon from 1991 to 2000 in the Midwest and beyond. A recovered addict with over 13 years clean she still will jump on a mic for a battle or a quick Cypher. You can hear her music on all streaming platforms.

Leaving the Rooms: An academic testimony on aa/na cult behavior
FOUR DAYS.
On August 27, 2026, under the Pisces Full Moon, LEAVING THE ROOMS arrives.
A Matriarch Memoir.
This may be the most complicated book I have written because I refuse to flatten the story into heroes and villains.
The rooms helped save my life.
There were people inside aa/na who loved me when I did not know how to love myself. Women who held me up. Old-timers who made coffee. People who gave me somewhere to go when my life was wreckage.
I will never erase them to make an argument.
But gratitude does not require silence.
After seven years in the fellowship, I left the rooms in 2015.
I did not relapse.
I did not die.
I did not lose my mind.
I lived.
And years later, after therapy, university, research, writing, and finally having enough distance to understand what I experienced, I began asking harder questions about hierarchy, sponsorship, confession, fear, spiritual pressure, group conformity, trauma, power, and what happens when vulnerable people are taught that leaving equals relapse, jail, insanity, or death.
A place can help save your life and still become a cage.
Good people can exist inside a harmful structure.
That tension is where this book lives.
Leaving the Rooms is memoir, lived testimony, cultural criticism, and plain-language academic analysis.
It is not revenge.
It is not an attack on every person who has ever walked into a meeting.
It is an examination of a recovery culture I lived inside, benefited from, questioned, and ultimately walked away from.
Because recovery should make us more capable of thinking.
More capable of questioning.
More capable of becoming sovereign over our own lives.
Not more afraid to leave the room.
