Sewer Scope Inspection - Dallas Fort Worth - Stonebriar Property Inspections 09/30/2026

New build sewer lines can still have defects.

During sewer scope inspections, we often find issues in new builds such as construction debris, poor connections, low spots, and other installation related defects.

These problems are not always visible during a standard home inspection because the sewer line is underground.

Stonebriar Property Inspections offers sewer scope inspections as an additional way to evaluate the condition of the main drain line and document issues that may otherwise go unseen.

A sewer scope allows the interior of the line to be viewed so these conditions can be identified early.

Sewer Scope Inspection - Dallas Fort Worth - Stonebriar Property Inspections Stonebriar Property Inspections now offers sewer scope inspections based on the growing number of costly sewer defects discovered after closing.

An outdoor fireplace can be a great feature on a patio, but its installation still needs to be inspected carefully.

In this video, Keith Boggs of Stonebriar Property Inspections examines an outdoor fireplace and points out a problem with the location of the fresh-air intake openings.

Fresh-air intakes provide combustion air for fireplaces, and their location is important. During this inspection, Keith found that the fresh-air intakes were positioned too high in relation to the top of the fireplace firebox.

This is a great example of why a professional home inspection involves more than simply looking for visible damage. Inspectors need to understand how components are installed and identify conditions that may affect the safe operation of a home’s systems.

If you’re buying a home with an outdoor fireplace, patio fireplace, or other built-in fireplace feature, make sure it gets a proper inspection.

Home Inspection Tip: This Shower Grout Problem Is Easy to Miss!

A shower may look perfectly fine at first glance, but there are details that a careful home inspector needs to examine.

In this video, Keith Boggs of Stonebriar Property Inspections points out separation of grout in a shower and explains an important issue involving changes of plane.

Where surfaces meet at a change of plane, such as the corners of a shower, the joint should be properly sealed. Grout is not the appropriate material for every one of these joints. Separation, cracking, or missing sealant can create an opportunity for water to get behind the finished surface.

This is an area where attention to detail matters. Keith says this is a problem that many home inspectors miss during inspections.

If you’re buying a home, don’t assume that a nice-looking tile shower means everything is properly installed. A professional home inspection should include a close examination of showers and other areas where water is present.

Keith Boggs performs home inspections throughout Dallas, Fort Worth, and the surrounding North Texas area.

Home Inspection Electrical Problem: Is Your Surge Protector Installed Correctly?

Where should a whole-house electrical surge protector be installed? Keith Boggs of Stonebriar Property Inspections takes a look at an installation that raises an important question during a home inspection.

In this video, Keith examines a surge protection device located below the home’s electrical panel. Surge protection can be an important part of a home’s electrical system, and in certain situations it may be required. However, the installation and location of the equipment need to be evaluated.

Electrical panels are one of the areas home inspectors pay close attention to because seemingly minor installation issues can have important implications for the home’s electrical system.

Keith explains what he found during this inspection and why the location of electrical components matters.

If you’re buying a home in Dallas, Fort Worth, or anywhere in North Texas, this is the type of electrical detail that a professional home inspector should be looking for.
