Hispanic Heritage Month is about celebrating the people, cultures, traditions, and communities that make us who we are.
So this month, we’re challenging our SHPE DFW familia to celebrate Hispanic/Latino culture one photo at a time 📸
Join the challenge, share your moments, and you could win exclusive SHPE merch! 🎉
Starting this week, we’ll have a different photo challenge each week:
📍 WEEK 1 - Sept. 15–20: Celebrate Our Community
Attend a Hispanic/Latino cultural event, festival, community gathering, or SHPE event.
🌮 WEEK 2 - Sept. 21-27: Support Hispanic-Owned Businesses
Visit a Hispanic/Latino-owned restaurant, coffee shop, bakery, store, or local business.
🎨 WEEK 3 - Sept. 28-Oct 4: Culture & Creativity
Share something that represents Hispanic/Latino culture: art, music, dance, books, clothing, food, architecture, or anything meaningful to you.

How to participate:

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) professional chapter recently hosted their 1st annual reinstated SHPE high school SHPE general scholarship program awards lunchson at the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics facility in Fort Worth, Texas. We award 4 Class of 2026 graduating high school seniors from Dallas Skyline HS, Dallas Young Women’s Leadership School, Arlington Sam Houston, and Euless Trinity HS. These amazing students were graded by SHPE DFW professional scholarship committee members based on SAT/ACT scores, GPA, community service hours, leadership positions held, number of awards and accomplishments, need based, and the quality of theri personal essay, resume, and two faculty letters of recommendation.. The students and their familiars got to learn about SHPE National and SHPE DFW who we are and what we do, the Lockheed Martin company overview, hear about how to pursue a successful STEM Career from a executive Vice-President keynote speaker, received their scholarship award presentation and tips for success followed by a tour of the F-35 assembly line tour. They left the facility very happy and with a “College Survival Kit” on behalf of SHPE DFW including college padfolios for their resumes at college campus career fairs, LM lanyards and keychains, STEM degree major guide, and F-35 stress plane. They are all headed to SHPE UTA and SHPE TCU ready and prepared to lead SHPE K-12 STEM outreach Junior and Noche de Ciencias/Equipando Padres programming for everyone.
