if you are a braider in Texas, whether you were born in Texas or born in America or born in Africa, I hope you know and understand the blood sweat and tears that it took to win our freedom to braid without a cosmetology license here in Texas - arrest and jail time, 20 years of struggle, countless protests, marches and festivals finally brought this about and later came the CROWN act passed in 2023 making it illegal for our natural hair to be discriminated against in public schools and in workplace - so that’s just a little bit of our history, your history, of my history.
