My friend gifted me this insane guitar mount and art piece designed and made by . What a statement and what a killer gift. Last night, I turned off all the lights in the house and just stared at it for a good while. I felt like the dad in A Christmas Story with the leg lamp.
Probably gonna play with different color lights at some point and then get a little backing to hide the power cord but as it stands now it’s bad to the bone.

Forever grateful for my friend Sean Mathis who is not only always there to get the shot but always around post-show to build me up about the set and how he clocked the room during our time on stage.
He recently told me and another close music friend of ours that between the two of us he’s collectively seen 125 of our shows. Pretty fu***ng cool.
Here are some shots from last Thursday at Antone’s as we teamed up with , and to raise funds for rehearsal spaces here in Austin, TX. It was one hell of a show and from the mouth of Sean Mathis, “some nights just stand above the rest and last night was one”.

Next weekend in Chicago I have the great pleasure of performing and speaking at Joe Pug’s The Working Songwriter Forum at The Old Town School Of Folk Music. Friday night at 9pm is my set and Saturday morning at 11:45am I’ll be speaking on resisting the need to be understood when it comes to our writing.
It’s gonna be one hell of a time with Joe, John Moreland and Rachel Baiman. Outside of my scheduled “shifts” I’ll be cruising around taking it all in so, if you see me, let’s hang. Stoked to get back.
Bigger Than Life
Watch and listen to and I discuss my song “The Music Man” and recreate the album cover for my record “We’re Not Going Anywhere” on his very tall Land Cruiser.
Then, I’d love if you came and joined us at Antone’s next Thursday (5.28) as we put on a benefit with HAAM and KUTX to raise money for much needed rehearsal spaces for our great musical city.
Garrett T Capps and The Point will also be playing. It’s gonna be killer and I’d love if you came out to hang.

Nothing’s gonna change my world
Here’s another clip from a session I did back in 2014 with Ryan Booth for my song “Find The Light”. My mother encouraged me in 2012 to write something hopeful as I had been, at the time, only exploring some hopeless themes. I’m so thankful she did because this song still remains to be one of my favorites.
It’s taken on new meaning over the years but still reminds me that I can befriend my pain and not just be bound by it all; that within the dark and trying moments, if I pay close attention and open my eyes, I’m still surrounded by the light and beautiful things as well.
