Alcohol isnโ€™t hard for many teens to get.

In Region 3, 35.1% of high school students reported that alcohol would be somewhat or very easy to obtain.

And in the 2024 Texas School Survey, 40% of 12th graders in Regions 3 & 7 said alcohol would be somewhat or very easy to get.

As students head back to school, letโ€™s talk about it.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Talk about peer pressure.
๐Ÿ’ฌ Talk about making healthy choices.
๐Ÿ’ฌ Talk about what to do when alcohol is offered.
๐Ÿ’ฌ Talk about how to get out of an uncomfortable situation.

The conversation can start before the pressure does.

๐Ÿ“š Last week, our team had the opportunity to attend the CADCA Mid-Year, where we gained new ideas, strategies, and resources to strengthen prevention efforts across our region.

From learning alongside prevention professionals from across the country to bringing back innovative tools for our Prevention Resource Center and local coalitions, we're excited to put what we learned into action!

We also participated in the DEA's Fentanyl-Free America events, reinforcing the importance of education, awareness, and community collaboration in preventing substance misuse and saving lives.

We're grateful for the opportunity to continue learning, growing, and strengthening prevention efforts for the communities we serve. ๐Ÿ’™

According to the Texas School Survey, most young people say they wouldn't ask for help if they were struggling with substance use but they don't have to face it alone.

Whether it's a parent, teacher, school counselor, coach, or another trusted adult, reaching out can be the first step toward support and recovery.

๐Ÿ’™ Asking for help isn't a weakness, it's a strength.

Many teens believe "everyone v**es," but the facts tell a different story.

In fact, nearly 4 out of 5 Grade 11 students report never using an electronic cigarette.

Prevention is about empowering young people with accurate information and helping them make healthy choices for their future.

๐Ÿ’™ Most students choose not to v**e and that's something worth celebrating.
