Red Rooster custom baits

Give this a listen. Before Peter Frampton.

Born the son of a preacher in Augusta and inspired by Jerry Byrd on the Grand Ole Opry stage in 1950, Pete Drake drove to Nashville with a vision and built a legacy that changed country and rock history forever. From organizing the legendary Atlanta band Sons of the South alongside future giants like Jerry Reed and Roger Miller to anchoring the Nashville A-Team and helping revolutionize music with his talking steel guitar, Pete was a true master of his craft. In this clip, watch Pete play his rendition of “Forever” in a television appearance that would go on to stand the test of time for his use of what became more widely known as the “talk box”, which became worldly famous when used by the the likes of Roger & Zapp, Joe Walsh, and Peter Frampton. Frampton in fact thanked Drake in interviews for introducing him to the effect. According to an interview with Drake, “You play the notes on the guitar and it goes through the amplifier. I have a driver system so that you disconnect the speakers and the sound goes through the driver into a plastic tube. You put the tube in the side of your mouth then form the words with your mouth as you play them. You don't actually say a word: The guitar is your vocal cords, and your mouth is the amplifier. It's amplified by a microphone.” Pete was a 29 year member of AFM Local 257 and his contributions & innovations to Rock & Roll and Country music will never be forgotten. Pete Drake passed in July of 1988 at the age of 55 and this Thursday, October 8th, will be his 94th birthday. A legend in every capacity.
