At the age of 80, and after more than 60 years in the music and entertainment business, Dolly Parton has passed. She had written more than 3,000 songs, leaving behind an extraordinary body of work that includes some of the most recognizable songs in American music and cinema.

A powerhouse in her own right, she lent that songwriting power to another, Whitney Houston, with “I Will Always Love You.”, one of the most famous songs in the world. And I don’t think anyone would disagree “Jolene” is one of the most recognizable songs in country music history.

Dolly had an incredible career with 25 songs that reached No. 1 on the Billboard country charts and sold more than 100 million records worldwide. She earned 11 Grammy Awards along the way, and her shadow stretched far beyond country music, eventually earning her a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Most songwriters would dream of writing one song that stood the test of time. Most would be proud of just one major award. Dolly did both and then kept going.

She became a successful actress, starring in films such as 9 to 5, Steel Magnolias, and Rhinestone. Whether she was writing a song, performing on a stage, appearing on the big screen, or simply being the Dolly, we all fell in love with, what she did best was connect with the heart of her fans.

Dolly Parton was beautiful, and trashy in the classiest of ways. One of her most famous quotes was “It takes a lot of money to look this cheap.”, and we loved her for it. She was an extraordinary woman who could write, sing, act, build a business, and gave back to her community—all while never seeming to lose sight of being just a little girl from Sevier County, Tennessee.

Dolly we love you, and we are going to miss you.

Before the world knew K. T. Oslin, she was 44 years old... and most of the industry had already written her off as "too late."

Then came the release of “80's Ladies" and everything changed.

That's the thing about real music and real people chasing it.
It doesn't check your age.
It doesn't ask if you're early or late.
It just asks if you're still willing to show up and say something honest.

Too many folks let age become a gatekeeper.
Like there's some invisible deadline on purpose, on dreams, on stepping into what you're meant to

Until today we didn’t know KT’s story, but we’ve always seen things a bit different.

We see people who've lived a little longer, carried a little more, and finally have something worth saying in a way only time could've shaped.

Maybe "late" is just what the world calls it when it didn't see you coming sooner.

Maybe it was right on time the whole time.

So keep at it. Keep writing. Keep singing
Keep showing up even if it feels like the calendar says you're behind.
