We wore out the soundtrack to growing up. A perfect collection of songs and a movie that I still watch nearly every year. When we were lifeguards over at the East Dallas YMCA, we listened to 98.7 KLUV constantly and would call on the reg requesting basically all of these songs while plugging our own band’s shows. Did anyone go to that show KLUV put on with Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Beach Boys, and more? It ruled. Anyways - long story long - the movie came out some 50+ years ago and still is as relevant today as it was then. And the soundtrack - dang - it’s one of the best ever compiled.

Still reelin’ from Saturday night with The Buffalo Ruckus. Electric guitars have come a long way since the A22 “Frying Pan.” Saturday, we had both a SG and a 335. For non guitar nerds, that’s like saying we had Chicken Fried Steak AND Chicken Fried Chicken. Or maybe you could say like a Cheeseburger and a side of pancakes. Never mind, this is starting to not make any sense… assuming it made any sense to begin with … Happy Monday! The only way to make a good week start is by starting right now, and I’ll start mine with some Huevos Rancheros.

First, I wanna say congrats to our friends at Island Getaway Rum for launching! Excited to party with them today. Annnd, Imma needa eat all the grits today, because tonight’s gonna be a show. The Buffalo Ruckus is in the house and it’s gonna be a rager. Happy hour goes 4-8. Music is at 730 or so. To quote the great Tiesto : let’s get down, let’s get down, let’s get down to business.

Time to celebrate - It’s International Beer Day! Rumor has it, right before this dude walked across the Twin Towers in 1974, he said, “Hold my beer and watch this.” Speaking of watching this, TONIGHT at the cafe on the stage 7 or so until 9 or so : Evan Boyer - he’s good! gets you prepped for the evening from 4pm-8pm. it’s a party the likes of which we’ve never seen.

Going through the history, music, food, this’s and that’s sites everyday, I’ve deduced this : a lot of stuff happened and continues to happen. If you do these searches everyday, you learn one consistency: something happened in WW2 and the Beatles did something cool. They did, of course, do something cool on this day : released Revolver - a pretty damn good one. Speaking of good ones : Thursday, we’ve got our legendary first Thursday with Sara Hauder and Claire Bruce. It’s a blast. Friday, the always spectacular Evan Boyer. Did you know he owns one of Willie’s (and Ray Benson’s) old busses? And Saturday, bringing the rock show, the baddest to the bone : The Buffalo Ruckus. Something cool’s always going down, be there when it does.

Red or Green? Hard to pick sometimes. Maybe both? Like being a kid at the 7-11 and plopping all the Slurpee flavors into one cup “suicide” style? I remember being at a “craft” brewery playing with The O's and us asking for beers that way. They were confused and proud of their crafty beer, but ultimately submitted to our request. As guessed, it all kinda tasted pretty wild. What was I talking about? Oh yeah, salsas. We got ‘em.

Talk about a good ol’ time this week. Thursday, the world famous Open Mic w/ Sara and Claire . Friday night we’ve got evanboyermusic and Saturday buffaloruckus. I’ve got Travis Tritt’s “Great Day to Be Alive” playing in my head and a fork in my hand.

I’m not a morning person, but I am a Pancake kinda person. I wonder what happens when you sandwich a Chicken Fried Steak with Huevos Rancheros. Sounds like a dream come true. Will report back …
