The Willie Tichenor Scholarship at Plan II is going strong with five students receiving travel scholarships for their study abroad pursuits this year. Plans include traveling to Paris for the Global Challenges in Europe Program, visiting France through the Normandy Scholars Program, going to Rotterdam, Ireland, for a supply chain management May term, and a trip to Southern France. We are excited for these students and the incredible educational experiences they are having! MK enjoyed visiting the office and meeting Plan II’s incredible new director, Dr. Janet Davis. 🤘🏽🤍🧡✨

It was another successful year of fundraising for Cycle for Survival! QuadW funded another matching grant of $50,000 to $51,301 raised that went to Dr. Bill Tap’s sarcoma lab at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. As Chief of Sarcoma Medical Oncology at MSK, Dr. Tap is at the forefront of research in sarcoma and driving innovation in the field. Dr. Tap has received over $1,000,000 in funding because of QuadW matching grants over the years. 🧡🚴✨

This past May, QuadW Director Lauren Jordan had the privilege of presenting the HPHS 2026 Willie Tichenor Arts Scholarship to Isabel Arnold, a deserving senior who is an accomplished piano player and headed to Dartmouth College in the fall.

Bret, MK, Lisa and Mac traveled to Chicago for the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology conference to attend the biannual meeting by to hear about the latest work in antibody-drug conjugates and other cutting-edge research in sarcoma.
They also met the 2026 Conquer Cancer-QuadW Foundation Young Investigator Award in memory of Willie Tichenor, Dr. Sukjoo Cho. Dr. Cho is mentored by Dr. Jason Yustein at Emory University and is studying why a gene called MYC appears to be linked to worse outcomes in osteosarcoma patients. By studying mice in parallel to an ongoing human trial that is testing the response to a newer therapy, Dr. Cho is hoping to identify how MYC changes the tumor and surrounding environment. QuadW’s award will allow Dr. Cho to continue his important research as he launches his research career.
Fun fact: Dr. Yustein was the second QuadW-funded Young Investigator through ASCO/Conquer Cancer Foundation. It is particularly meaningful to have one of his mentees win the award 19 years later!
