A Beautiful Step

🌸If you are seeing this, thank you for being here. 🌸 I’ve had big aspirations for this project for a while.
In these past 4 years, I’ve had two babies and each time I get mojo going for my business life, there’s been another very important reason to focus on the personal. To rest and to heal. To offer my children what they need of me. The content on this page has been more about prenatal/postnatal Pilates - that was the uncomfortable yet happy state I found myself in. However, I’ve had a more robust vision for this space.
A Beautiful Step is about taking thoughtful action, the not pretty or perfect, but the push for forward momentum. To move through a time of major life change with joy, grace & compassion… to be patient yet enamored with the dance of life. It’s about taking the steps that are aligned with your heart.
The content here will be taking a turn towards the direction I’ve hoped for all along. I hope you stick around! I’m pretty excited for this next phase. I wouldn’t be here had I not taken baby steps a while ago. Thanks for walking with me. 🤍
P.S. gotta send love to the amazing with the photo cred. She found the dancer in me even while I was 8 months pregnant and could hardly move. I love this photo for the movement in it and my big ol belly.
P.S.S. 🖖🏻🌸

It’s been a fine afternoon. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping — legit, we have parakeets that fly over every afternoon — I got to dance with one of my favorite movement mentors: the one and only Max Stone — saw a friend— changed the shape I was in. Hubs came home with pink bubbles — Cheers friends. It’s the small things 🌸🖖🏻🕺🏻

This page has always been a work in progress. Small steps in letting perfection not be the enemy of the good. is evolving. I’ve shared largely pre/postnatal Pilates content, and while that has been my phase of late, there’s always been a broader picture for this space. Thanks for being here. Stay tuned. 🖖🏻🌸⚡️
SWAN 🦢
Go 🆙 more than 🔙and squeeze the heck out of your shoulder blades + mid back muscles. The growing preggers busoms make this exercise extra necessary/wonderful 🙂. Can be done seated, kneeling low, kneeling high, or standing anywhere and everywhere and anytime!! Avoid lying on your stomach around 12-14 weeks during pregnancy.
THANK YOU JOE for understanding how important and lovely extension of the back can be. And also for animal exercise names. 🤣
SPINE STRETCH FORWARD
This exercise is gold for the back. 🌟 The more ab connection, the more spine stretch. Pregnant, you feel like you’ll go almost nowhere... and you might not... cause there’s a baby in there...but this safe abdominal work and the spine stretch you can get is sooooo good. Think 🆙🆙before and during ⏪⏪!!
THANK YOU JOE for exercise names that explain it for me 😁
And, on INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY, choose to challenge the notion of what you think this ‘should’ be and lovely accept what is today. The most lasting changes start and end with grace.
SINGLE LEG STRETCH 1️⃣🦵🏻➡️
Pull one in, reach the other out.
Prenatal friendly=head down, option to prop up on a blanket. As always, pay attention every time you hit the mat to ensure this is still manageable for you!
THANK YOU JOE for being a master of opposing forces 🔛

ROLLING LIKE A BALL
Prenatal style, go for lift and control. Rolling not necessary...you have enough to deal with making a ball shape over and around yo baby 😆🤰🏻Hint: a serious kegal will help 😉
THANK YOU JOE for ego shattering exercises. We all must humble ourselves every now and again. 🙏🏻 Hint: motherhood will too 🖖🏻🌸
SINGLE LEG CIRCLE 1️⃣🦵🏻⚪️
One leg at a time goes round and round, both directions. Switch ‘em and reverse ‘em!
🗣📣sound up for cues and modifications.
THANK YOU JOE for making exercises that look easy but are snipers. This is a sneaky abdominal stabilizing, hamstring mobilizing, hip flexor strengthening, pelvis organizing exercise!
(NOT) ROLL OVER
First trimester, knock yourself out, by the mid second/third, let that sh*t go. Opt for less strain on the body with a similar benefit! There is plenty of spine articulation to find! Add in this variation a la and that upper back will get love, too!
THANK YOU JOE for teaching the bodies in front of you all those years... we are lucky to have a wealth of variations even amongst the most traditional of classical teachers.
