It's that time of year, and once again the Visual Effects Society - Texas Section will be represented at Industry Giants.

Visual Effects Society Chair of the global board of directors Kim Davidson will be delivering the Keynote Address and moderating a panel with Section members Matthew Ward and Patton Tunstall. Section members Elise Hatheway and Brett Briley will each be sharing their knowledge on where the entertainment and gaming industries are heading in the future. And member Stephen Steinbach will be helping budding artists grow their skills reviewing portfolios.

Submissions for the 25th Annual VES Awards are now open! We are thrilled to be entering our 25th year and recognizing the outstanding artistry and innovation from around the world.

This year we have a variety of new and updated categories as our members continue to shape and evolve the industry. The deadline for entries will be Saturday, October 31.

Great seeing our Austin and adjacent area members come together at Fixe Southern House for the Visual Effects Society — Texas Section Fall Mixer and Membership Drive! Good food, good company, and a real snapshot of the CG/VFX talent building in the area.

We're actively growing our presence in Austin, so if you couldn't make it out this time, stay tuned, there's more coming. And if you know folks in the Austin area who'd love to be part of this community, send them our way!

Thanks to those who came out over the holiday weekend for the Visual Effects Society - Texas Fall mixer and Membership drives in Austin and DFW. The DFW meetup was held at Katy Trail Ice House Outpost where we shared in section camaraderie and VFX community! And maybe an ice cold beer to cool off from the Texas heat, aka Summer.
