I just read an article about mortgage rates nearing 7% and that is impacting home sales. It made me think back to when I first started selling homes in 1997 and 1998. At that time, rates were just above 7% after years of double-digit interest rates. I still remember my managing broker saying, "Better get out there and start selling. Rates will never be this low again."
Funny how perspective changes over time.
Today's market certainly has its challenges, and home prices have increased significantly. But when it comes to mortgage rates, I believe much of the conversation is about perception. Historically speaking, rates around 7% are still reasonable. More importantly, the "right" time to buy or sell isn't determined solely by interest rates; it's determined by life. Job changes, growing families, downsizing, retirement, and new opportunities all create reasons to move.
The best time to buy or sell is when it aligns with your goals and your needs. Markets change, rates fluctuate, but life keeps moving forward.
