Back in Black

I had a great time doing what I was put here to
do Thursday night in Deep Ellum at 3 Links. Thanks to my good friend Matt Mann. A colleague of mine for many years in the Entertainment Business. I always enjoy performing with him whether it’s Dallas Texas or Los Angeles. Also thanks to all the great musicians that joined me last evening. Pat Peterson, Jeff Plant and John Carruth. It’s the way I love to hold court. Much more to come.

I would especially like to thank my girlfriend Connie, Entertainment legend “Elucius Tate” aka Jeff Redding, his wife Leah and MIke Stasiak who stood by and encouraged me when whatever in the heck was going on with my health. Now that I look back, it always comes back to the same thing. Don’t hang around negative people and surround yourself with people who lift not lean.

Success with time. To accomplish this, you must accustom yourself that when your are doing one thing. Everything you did in the past and whatever you will do in the future is as if though it doesn’t exist. If it is not relevant to your current activity. True it is only a short moment, but during this short time, if you dispel all distracting thoughts of the past or future it will enable you to use the present moment to its fullest. This is called success with time. My confidence game came from me practicing guitar by myself for hours and hours by myself. I put my time in and I knew I put in more time than anybody else. People always want to talk about talent but what they don’t want to talk about is the loneliness.

I learned just that from Art, which is a very lonely, isolated pursuit. When you draw, you’re there by yourself. I learned to like myself. I found that creative time is when the spirit would show up. The creative spirit which is why we are here. In my own weird way I believe G-d was lonely and it’s why he created us. He found joy in doing so.

So in a sense loneliness just means you don’t like yourself. You’re not on the right path you didn’t find your calling and what it is you put here to do.

The only way to find that is to look into your soul.

Layla and Luke did yesterday at Toneshop Guitars in Addison just like their Dad did over 20 years ago. I’ll say it again “the only thing that happens when you wait is you get older”

Luke is picking up the guitar at the same age Clint Strong did. We all know what that led to.
