Here's how I know I'm mentally out of radio 100%.

I get asked ALL the time where my podcast is.

I don't do one. I cannot be one of those guys who hated radio, quit, and wound up doing a podcast - or one of the guys who got fired. In my case, I quit.

Having said that, I WILL be a guest on your show if you have content that matches something I have to say. I'd be glad to do it. Just DM. No pay no promotions - just a guest on your show.

It's insanely late. 5:30AM. I don't know how many people this page reaches, considering I never post here. I guess I don't have a need to anymore really.

I will tell you, I got a call from a station in Dallas recently. They wanted me to do afternoons. The pay? $28,000. In DALLAS, TX - the 4th largest radio market in the Country.

So no.

I could go on about that, the station, the idiots who are running it, but this isn't about that.

At my age, I'm way more in to current rock music than 90% of men my age. It's cheesy, but it's in my soul. Also, I'm not one of those dude's who only likes his era of music and says "All the new stuff sucks".

However . . .

MOST of the new stuff sucks. The #1 song right now is by SLEEP THEORY. It's called WORDS ARE WORTHLESS.

Every time I check the radio charts, I'm amazed at how rock radio can't see the main problem that's glaringly obvious. They pick sh*tty new music, and they overplay the older music. It's an over compensation. There are some tremendously amazing bands out there that are putting out so much great stuff - yet radio ignores it. So does Sirius. It's criminal!

There's this vibe now in rock where it's just synths and power chords - a bridge that's slower and mysterious - back in to power chords and synths. Where the f**k did that come from?

For the record, the lead singer of SLEEP THEORY is bad ass. The vocals are tight. The guitars are good. The songs suck.

Meanwhile, has Sevendust EVER had a number 1 song? How many have they had in the top 10? One of the most under rated bands in rock history. How the f**k are they not a Korn, Godsmack, Metallica? HOW? WHY?? I just checked... they never had a #1 song. They had very few that broke the top 10. DENIAL? BLACK? ENEMY? ANGELS SON? Make it make sense to me.

And I could sit here and do that with MULTIPLE awesome bands. BTW if you never saw Sevendust, you have no idea what you've missed. I saw them probably 10 times back in the DAY. You always walk out wanting to punch something; you're so revved up.

Meh, I bitch about the same issues - but it doesn't make me less annoyed.

Radio sucks.

Rock radio REALLY sucks.

Rock music on the charts sucks.

I love love love Shinedown, but we need about 25-30 more Shinedowns that are putting out real, intentional, meaningful, original rock music.
