Vesper Energy breaks ground and secures $236 million for another huge solar project in Texas - pv magazine USA Construction of the Nazareth Solar project, located next to the 600 MW Hornet Solar site, began this month with commercial operation expected in the fall of 2027.

Vesper Energy recently brought members of its development team together in Chicago for the Development Team Summit, creating an opportunity to collaborate, share insights, and align on priorities for the year ahead.

Vesper Energy's Hornet Solar project was featured on ABC 7 Amarillo, highlighting its economic impact on Swisher County, TX.

“Hornet has generated about $5 million in revenue. For Swisher County, that’s about $2.5 million going to the local school district, and another $500,000 to $600,000 going to the hospital district,” said Mona Bond, Community Affairs Manager at Vesper Energy.

Vesper Energy closed $236 million in financing for the 201 MW Nazareth Solar project in Swisher County, Texas. Complementing the adjacent 600 MW Hornet Solar project, this marks another major milestone in expanding reliable domestic energy infrastructure.

Once operational, Nazareth Solar will generate enough electricity to power approximately 53,000 homes annually while supporting grid reliability across ERCOT. The project will create construction and long-term operations jobs, generate new tax revenue for local communities, and provide stable income opportunities for participating landowners.

Construction will begin in June 2026, with commercial operations targeted for Fall 2027.

Zach Wald, Vice President of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction at Vesper Energy, shared his perspective with Reuters on the growing importance of workforce development across the U.S. power sector.

Since its official launch in April 2025, Vesper Energy’s Hornet Solar has generated over 1.5 million megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity and more than $5 million in tax revenue for local entities, including:
Over $2.6 million to the Tulia Independent School District

Over $1.3 million through the Swisher County Tax Assessor

Over $600,000 to Swisher County through a Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) agreement

Over $300,000 to the Swisher County Memorial Hospital District
