Wilkinson Center Community

Wilkinson Center is delighted to be participating in this year’s Jungle Bells event hosted by United Way at the Dallas Zoo

Families are invited to come watch the Dallas Zoo’s famous light show for free while receiving information about helpful resources from local nonprofits.

It is sure to be a can’t-miss event for Dallas families looking for a little extra help this holiday season!

Hikmatullah Abed is an Afghan Refugee who earned his Bachelor’s of Medicine and Surgery back home and was working toward his Master’s in Public Health. When he started a new life in the US, he was forced to restart his education because his credentials were no longer recognized. To compensate, Hikmatullah worked full-time night shifts to care for his wife and three children while working to obtain his US Medical License.

Thanks to Wilkinson Center’s incredible partnership with Resource One Credit Union, Hikmatullah received a scholarship to continue his education. He plans to use the money to pay for his exam fees, preparatory training courses, and textbooks.

We are so proud of Hikmatullah and wish him the best on his journey!

We are delighted to announce Joshua Sanders as the first Melanie Myers Scholarship recipient! Melanie was a long-time support of Wilkinson Center with a true heart for service and our clients. This Scholarship fund in her honor will support our students on their path to success! Congrats, Joshua!

August is National Make-a-Will Month, a month-long celebration that encourages Americans to plan for their future by creating an estate plan. Take this month to put your finances in order and plan for your future!

⭐There was so much to celebrate at our recent Adult Education Graduation, including these students, who earned a scholarship from Resource One Credit Union: Hikmatullah Abed, Jessica Contreras, Kaitlyn Parker, Veronica Duran, and Shenique Curtis. These scholarships will be used for post-secondary school and professional development needs. Congrats, students, and thank you, Resource One!

We love client updates! Gabe started working with Wilkinson Center about 2 years ago. He recently gave us an update on his new career: "I feel thankful for Wilkinson Center and the Dallas Foundation for your generous scholarship. Because of what you have done for me, I have achieved these important certifications of Foot Care and Wound Care. Thank you for everything you've done for me. I am very appreciative of all your help."

Way to go, Gabe!
