Backyard Swing Farm

Good morning and happy Saturday!

It’s a gorgeous morning here, and it finally feels like fall at 64°! (We’ll be back in the 80s later, but dropping into the low 60s again tonight.)

🙌🍂☀️

The cows are loving their expanded pasture space! They also love their bottles, so getting them to come to me is easy when they see my milk wagon coming through the gate.

🍼🐮

In addition to breakfast served in their stall, we’re now offering milk face-cleaning services, courtesy of Mimi! She’s a “house heifer” that thinks she part of my little herd.

😂🐾👅🥛

Welp, somebody made a big boo-boo and left the gate open last night. Yep, that “somebody” is ME! 🙋🏼‍♀️

I about had a heart attack when I saw the cows out in the pasture this morning, but they were having a great time …playing and chasing each other like kids at recess. I’ve been thinking about letting them out during the day for a while, so now that I know they’re happy and thriving out here, I think I will start rotating them through the pasture during daylight hours.

I still plan to separate them and put them in their smaller pasture at night. Not so much because I’m worried about safety, but because feeding time in the mornings and evenings will be a whole lot smoother when everyone is where they’re supposed to be.

TGIF!

Mimi and I are headed out to do farm chores together. 🐾❤️ ☀️

Make it a great day!

Feedings are finally getting a little simpler around here! The Milk Bottle Buffet is officially open.

Apparently, my hens are spiteful! 🐔

Last week with a full house of company, I was running low on eggs. I’d check the box twice a day and only found 1-2 eggs. For the first time in well over 2 years I actually had to BUY eggs at the grocery store! 😖

Today I come here and every single hen laid me an egg. Btw, they’re were 7 in here but one was cracked ao gave it to Mimi. 🤦‍♀️

What are your favorite Christmas/winter season scents?

🤔 🎄❄️

I need to get back to soaping soon so I have plenty of time to let the bars fully cure in time for the holidays. I plan to make my usual Winter Mint Snowflakes, but I’d also like to make a few loaves of regular cut bars and I’m trying to decide which scents to incorporate.

I’d love to hear your feedback and suggestions!

Thanks in advance!
