This one was both.

My daughter met this wonderful couple years ago at a horse barn when they were kids riding together. I was there when he proposed to her in that same barn, and I was honored to celebrate with them at their wedding 12 years ago.

Who would have thought that just a few years later I’d become a real estate agent? As I watched their family grow through the years on Facebook, I often found myself hoping that one day I’d have the opportunity to help them buy their first home. It was one of those dreams you never really expect to come true.

Fast forward to today, and I had the privilege of helping them purchase what will likely be the home where they’ll raise their children. That means more to me than I can put into words.

What made this transaction even more special was that it wasn’t just about my buyers.

The sellers had lovingly cared for this home for 37 years while raising their own family. They intentionally left much of its timeless character and unique style intact, hoping another family would appreciate it just as much as they had. My buyers immediately recognized the beauty, history, and care that had been poured into this home over nearly four decades. It was clear they weren’t just buying a house—they were becoming the next chapter in its story.

I’d also like to recognize the listing agent. Even while on a once-in-a-lifetime vacation, she never stopped communicating and making sure her clients were informed. When we discovered the air conditioning wasn’t working during the inspection, everyone stayed focused on finding solutions instead of assigning blame.

That’s what professionalism looks like.

When buyers, sellers, and agents treat one another with respect, communicate openly, and work toward the same goal, even the unexpected bumps in the road can be overcome.

These are the transactions I’ll always remember. They remind me that this career has never been just about buying and selling homes. It’s about relationships, trust, and helping people through some of life’s biggest milestones.
