More simply put, our mission is to enable them to live at home where they are comfortable and happy for as long as safely possible.

Since 1956, our services and community collaborations have enabled seniors and special needs adults to live at home where they are comfortable and happy for as long as safely possible. Since our beginning in 1956, our mission has been to collaborate with community resources and provide services that support seniors, adults with special needs, and their caregivers to maintain quality independent lives. Over the past 60+ years, our organization has grown from a senior citizen's center into a multi-program community-based service agency that serves not only Montgomery County but the Greater Miami Valley and beyond. On an annual basis, our organization serves well over 15,000 individuals and addresses issues that make seniors especially vulnerable such as nutrition, safety, personal needs, mental health and social well-being. Our “cluster of services” benefits our clients and their caregivers as well as case managers because using one provider simplifies care coordination efforts. Oftentimes, navigating the system to initiate necessary services in the home can be confusing and exasperating. Our agency has the ability to offer all of these services “under one roof” and with one point of contact which greatly minimizes the amount of time spent with frustrating day-to-day communication and care coordination issues as well as addressing problems and concerns in a timely manner. Our Services:
*Visiting Home Care
*Meals on Wheels
*Congregate Dining
*Philips Lifelife™
*Senior's Best Friend (pet food delivery)
*Social Services/Case Management
*Representative Payee Services
*Community Geriatric Nursing
*Caregiver Support & Care Coordination

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AFTER 70 YEARS, SENIOR RESOURCE CONNECTION TO TRANSITION SERVICES
AND SUNSET OPERATIONS

DAYTON, OH; May 2026 - After 70 years of serving older adults, individuals with special needs, and caregivers throughout the Miami Valley, Senior Resource Connection (SRC) announced today that the organization will sunset its operations following the transition of its core services to partner agencies throughout the region.

The decision was made after several years of increasing financial pressures, rising operating costs, and insufficient long-term funding to sustain operations at the level of quality and care that has defined the organization for decades.

SRC emphasized that the majority of services will continue without interruption through partnerships with area organizations, and are working closely with the Area Agency on Aging and others toward that end. Many SRC employees will have the opportunity to continue their employment with partner agencies assuming these services.

“Making the decision to conclude the operations of the organization was extraordinarily difficult,” said Rachel Gut, Chair of the SRC Board of Directors. “But our responsibility as a Board was to ensure that clients continued receiving services and that this transition occurred thoughtfully, responsibly, and with dignity for the people we serve and the employees who have dedicated themselves to this mission.”

Founded in 1956, SRC grew from a senior citizens center into a multi-program community-based organization serving thousands of individuals annually across Montgomery County and the Greater Miami Valley. Over its history, the organization provided critical support services addressing nutrition, safety, personal care, mental health, transportation, and social well-being.

Like many nonprofit human service organizations, SRC faced significant operational and financial challenges following the COVID-19 pandemic, including rising costs for food, transportation, insurance, and workforce retention.

“After several years of operating deficits, the Board recognized that continuing operations without sufficient resources could ultimately jeopardize service quality and stability,” Gut said. “Our focus became ensuring continuity of care and preserving services through strong community partnerships.”

SRC expresses gratitude to the many organizations, funders, volunteers, employees, and community partners who helped support both the organization and the transition process.

Meals on Wheels delivers pantry-safe meals to help clients through forecasted winter storm 01/29/2026

Every day at our dedicated team of Meals on Wheels drivers deliver nutrition, social interaction, care, support, and even friendship to the clients they serve.

Through last weekend's unprecedented winter weather, we made sure to go the extra mile to ensure our clients had access to daily nutrition, even if they were snowed in for days.

And on Tuesday when so many local businesses and resources were unable to open, our drivers were out there delivering to as many of our clients as possible.

Check out our most recent interview with WHIO to hear more about our team's inspiring efforts!
