BeeBee Leong’s Embry-Riddle journey began on September 10, 2001 in IT Desktop Support. She learned early on about the importance of teamwork, preparedness, and supporting one another during challenging times.

More than a decade later, she took a leap outside her comfort zone and became the Advising Coordinator for the M.S. in Aeronautics program. This career change allowed her to continue doing what she does best: listening, solving problems, and helping others succeed.

Over 25 years, BeeBee has supported countless faculty, staff, and students, but two graduates hold an especially meaningful place in her story, her sons, who earned their Embry-Riddle degrees in 2017 and 2024. 💙🎓

Her career is a wonderful reminder that professional journeys don’t always follow a straight path. Sometimes an unexpected opportunity leads to the most rewarding chapter.

As BeeBee reflects, it’s the relationships, mentors, friendships, and people she has served that have made Embry-Riddle more than a workplace; it has become a community.

Shout-outs to Mrs. Beverly Davis, her IT mentor, who supported her professional growth, Dr. John Lanicci, who believed in her potential and gave her the opportunity to transition into academic advising, and Dr. Donald Metscher, with whom she worked for nearly 10 years. And of course, to the "IT lunch bunch,” Beverly, Debbie, Angel, Kory, and Patrick.

Because onboarding is about more than learning a new job, it’s about finding your place in the community.

After 25 years at Embry-Riddle, Dr. Sunder Raghavan says his greatest accomplishment isn’t measured by publications, programs, or professional recognition, it’s measured by the success of his students.

Throughout his career, he has watched students grow into leaders across aviation, aerospace, finance, and beyond. In one memorable full-circle moment, Dr. Raghavan discovered that a candidate interviewing for a senior university leadership role had once been a student in his finance class! His takeaway? “Always be kind to your students; one day, they may become your boss’s boss!” 😊

Looking ahead, Dr. Raghavan has big hopes for the university’s next chapter, including seeing the David B. O’Maley College of Business become a premier destination for education and research focused on the “business of flight,” while Embry-Riddle continues advancing engineering, aeronautics, space, and other emerging fields shaping the future of our industry.

“At a time when many institutions are facing enrollment challenges, it is especially encouraging to see the continued growth and interest in Embry-Riddle.” To Dr. Raghavan, that momentum speaks to the strength of our mission and the value students see in an Embry-Riddle education.
