May is Foster Care Awareness Month 💙
Right now, children in DeKalb County need safe, loving homes.
In Q4 of 2025 alone, 667 children entered foster care — but only 186 were placed with families here in DeKalb. That means 481 children had to leave their community, schools, siblings, and everything familiar to them.
We can change that together. 🏡
DeKalb DFCS and community partners like Wellroot Family Services are working to recruit and support more foster families right here at home. If you’ve ever considered fostering, now is the time to learn more.
📅 FREE Virtual Information Sessions:
• May 11 | 6–7 PM
• May 16 | 9–10 AM
• May 26 | 6–7 PM
🔗 Register at: fosternow.org
Not ready to foster? You can still make a difference by sharing resources, supporting foster families, and spreading awareness.
Visit wellroot.org/foster-care-month-yes for the awareness toolkit and more information.
Our children are counting on our community to say YES. 💙

A powerful showing at this week’s DeKalb Board of Commissioners meeting 💛
Affordable housing advocates, unhoused advocates, service providers, and community members showed up strong in bold yellow shirts reading: “Lead with Compassion. Act with Collaboration. Serve with Kindness.” This message anchored their call to adopt and implement the Unhoused Support and Services Recommendations.
Their voices made an impact — the resolution passed.
This is what collective advocacy looks like.
