Choosing to breastfeed is a personal decision—and having the support of your family can make a meaningful difference. Talk with your loved ones about why you’ve chosen to breastfeed and how they can support you along the way.

Pregnancy can make it harder for your body to regulate temperature, increasing the risk of heat-related illness. With extreme heat expected, take extra precautions to stay safe:

💧 Drink plenty of water
🌡️ Stay in cool, air-conditioned spaces as much as possible
👗 Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing
⏰ Limit outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day
🧴 Take frequent breaks if you’re outside

If you experience symptoms such as dizziness, headache, nausea, weakness, or contractions, move to a cool place and contact your healthcare provider.

August is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month!

The Milk Bar Support Group at Decatur Morgan Hospital is more than just a weekly meetup. It’s a welcoming space where new moms can find support as they navigate nursing, pumping, postpartum recovery, identity, relationships and mental health.
