Atlanta Bible Baptist Church - ABBC

🌱 Pastor Appreciation Month Day 2: Sown in Faith — The Man Behind the Message

Pastor Ray Smith's story is one of answering the call. Working in pharmacy in Atlanta, he sensed God calling him into ministry — so he went to seminary, earned his Master of Divinity with honors, and in 1991 moved to Flint, Michigan to plant a church. For 27 years he was the pastor of New Community Baptist Church.

Then God brought him back to Atlanta. He became only the second pastor in the history of Atlanta Bible Baptist Church, succeeding its founder, Dr. John McNeal, Jr. — the very man under whose ministry he grew as a young believer.

Through every chapter, he has served side by side with his wife, Sister Linda "Dee" Smith — married right here at ABBC in July 1980.

His great delight is teaching the Word of God with practical illustrations and applications, teaching the whole counsel of God to minister to the whole person.

His life verse says it best: "And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men." — Luke 2:52.

For six years, ABBC has been blessed by that teaching and that steady, faithful leadership. Because you sowed, we grew. 💛

Help us honor Pastor Ray! ❤️ like, 💬 comment with a word of thanks, and 📤 share this post!

🌱 Pastor Appreciation Month Begins!

October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and this year we have an extra special reason to celebrate! 🧡💚

For 6 years, Pastor Ray Smith and his dedicated wife, Sis. Linda “Dee” Smith, have faithfully served, loved, encouraged, and poured into the Atlanta Bible Baptist Church family.

Throughout October, we’ll be sharing special messages from our members, ministries, and church family as we reflect on the many ways their leadership has impacted us.

Our theme this year is:

“Sown in Faith. Growing in Love. Teaching Us to Grow in the Wisdom of God.” 🌱

“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”
Luke 2:52

We invite you to be part of the celebration! When you see our Pastor Appreciation posts this month, be sure to LIKE ❤️, COMMENT 💬, and SHARE ↗️ — and leave your own words of love and appreciation along the way.

Let’s fill October with gratitude as we celebrate 6 years of faithful service! 🙏🏾

Small church. BIG God. 🙌🏾

At Atlanta Bible Baptist Church, our mission is simple: Draw. Develop. Deploy.

✨ DRAW people to Christ.
🌱 DEVELOP believers into growing disciples.
🌎 DEPLOY disciples to live out their faith and impact the world around them.

We believe the size of the church doesn’t determine the size of its impact—God does.

There’s a place for you to grow, serve, and belong at ABBC. Come see what God is doing! ❤️

ABBC3D | Draw. Develop. Deploy.

What does a church captivated by God’s
mercy look like? It looks like dignity, love, and
Christlike compassion lived out every day. 🙏🏾
May we not only receive God’s mercy—but extend that
same mercy to everyone we encounter.
