I’m proud to serve alongside an administration that puts DeKalb residents first—and that commitment was on full display as Lorraine Cochran-Johnson announced a major step forward for our workforce.

DeKalb County is increasing its minimum wage to $19 per hour—a meaningful investment in the people who keep our county running every day. This increase will benefit more than 1,400 employees and includes efforts to address salary compression, ensuring experience and years of service are properly recognized.

This is about more than wages—it’s about dignity, stability, and creating real pathways for our workforce to grow and thrive. Grateful for CEO Cochran-Johnson’s leadership in moving this work forward.

The Human Powered Parade kicks off at 10 a.m., followed by live entertainment throughout the day. Come out, enjoy the festivities, and celebrate the spirit of our community!

The HAP Mobile Unit will be on site Friday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Motel 6 (2820 Chamblee Tucker Road, Atlanta) offering a variety of free services for residents.

Stop by for naloxone training, car seat distribution, HIV/STD screenings, blood pressure checks, a mobile farmers market and giveaways.
