Are you deficient in Vitamin D? Supplementation is helpful for many people. Are you absorbing the Vitamin D you are supplementing with?
Regular testing will help determine that. We can order lab testing for you at any time. This month, we are offering 20% off all in stock Vitamin D for the entire month of October.

9 Possible Signs of Vitamin D Deficiency

Vitamin D is important for bone strength, muscle function, and calcium balance. Mild deficiency may cause no symptoms, so a blood test is needed to confirm it.

🟣 1. Bone Pain

➟ Aching or tenderness may occur, especially in the lower back, hips, pelvis, or legs

➟ Severe deficiency can lead to osteomalacia in adults

🟣 2. Muscle Weakness

➟ Muscles may feel weaker than usual

➟ Climbing stairs or getting up from a chair may become harder

🟣 3. Fatigue or Low Energy

➟ Some people with low vitamin D report persistent tiredness

➟ Fatigue is nonspecific and may have many other causes

🟣 4. Frequent Illness

➟ Vitamin D plays a role in normal immune function

➟ However, frequent infections alone do not prove vitamin D deficiency

🟣 5. Low Mood

➟ Low vitamin D levels have been associated with low mood in some studies

➟ Depression or mood changes usually have multiple possible causes

🟣 6. Back Pain

➟ Vitamin D deficiency can contribute to musculoskeletal or bone pain

➟ Persistent back pain should also be evaluated for other causes

🟣 7. Bone Fragility

➟ Long-term severe deficiency can weaken bones

➟ This may increase the risk of fractures, particularly in older adults

🟣 8. Slow Wound Healing

➟ Vitamin D may play a role in tissue repair

➟ Slow healing has many causes, especially diabetes, poor circulation, infection, or nutritional deficiencies

🟣 9. Hair Thinning or Hair Loss

➟ Low vitamin D has been associated with some forms of hair loss

➟ Hair loss alone is not a reliable sign of vitamin D deficiency

🟣 Diagnosis & Management

➟ Deficiency is confirmed with a 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] blood test

➟ Vitamin D supplements may be recommended depending on the level and individual risk

➟ Include vitamin D–rich foods such as fatty fish, egg yolk, and fortified foods

➟ Safe sunlight exposure can contribute to vitamin D production

➟ Avoid taking very high-dose supplements without medical guidance, as excess vitamin D can cause toxicity

Medical disclaimer: This information is for general educational purposes only and does not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Many of these symptoms are nonspecific, so suspected vitamin D deficiency should be confirmed with appropriate medical evaluation and testing.
