Real estate agents, this is worth paying attention to.

When your client hires a home inspector, they are handing over a lot more than an address.

Name. Phone number. Email. Property information. Closing details.

That information is valuable.

This article from Working RE takes a pretty deep look at what is happening behind the scenes in the home inspection industry and how access to homebuyers is increasingly being used to generate additional revenue through things like warranties, insurance, alarm systems, utility setup services, and other partnerships.

To be clear, I am not saying those services are bad. Many of them are useful, and I completely understand why inspection companies choose to offer them.

We have simply chosen not to.

At Home-Probe, we do not use our clients as another revenue stream.

We do not sell alarm systems.

We do not participate in utility startup programs.

We do not use warranty programs or other partnerships that pay us for access to the people who trusted us with their information.

We inspect homes.

And this matters even more because, in most cases, that client came to us because a real estate agent trusted us enough to make the introduction.

That relationship matters.

So here is the question I think every agent should be asking the companies they recommend:

**What happens to my client’s information after the inspection?**

Who gets it?

How is it used?

And is anyone making money from access to that client?

You should know the answer.

Your client should too.
