I knew this launch would come with questions.
What I didn’t expect was how emotional some of them would make me.
Because when someone asks if we added water to make our products cheaper, or wonders if R&R is becoming like the companies we built this brand to be different from, I want so badly to bring you behind the scenes and show you what actually happened.
These formulas cost us more.
They’re harder to make.
They require more steps, more precision and more expensive ingredients.
Our margins are smaller.
From a purely business perspective, keeping our old formulas would have been much easier.
But this decision was never about what was easiest for R&R.
It started because I created something for my own skin and loved it so much that I couldn’t stop asking:
“If I believe this is better, why aren’t we giving this to our customers?”
That question changed everything.
I will never tell you that our original balms were bad products. I loved them. They changed my family’s life and eventually became the foundation of this company.
But R&R is allowed to learn.
We are allowed to get better.
And when we believe we’ve found a better way to care for your skin, I believe we have a responsibility to pursue it, even when that path costs us more.
So keep asking questions.
Really.
We aren’t afraid of them.
We’d rather explain WHY we made these decisions than expect you to blindly trust us.

Isn’t it interesting that humans used plants for health and skincare for thousands of years…
and somewhere along the way, we started acting like that was strange?
Before drugstores.
Before 15-step skincare routines.
Before ingredient lists you needed a chemistry degree to read…
there were plants.
Calendula. Chamomile. Lavender. Rosemary. Aloe. Oats.
People learned what these plants could do through generations of observation, tradition, and eventually, science.
Then the world changed.
Medicine became more standardized.
Manufacturing became industrialized.
Scientists learned how to isolate individual compounds.
Products needed to be consistent, scalable, shelf-stable, and easy to mass produce.
And to be fair, those changes gave us some INCREDIBLE advances in medicine and personal care.
But I think we lost something along the way.
We began separating ourselves from the plants our ancestors knew so well.
Herbal preparations that once lived in kitchens, gardens, apothecaries, and family traditions became something people viewed as “alternative.”
And suddenly the idea of steeping flowers into oil for hours sounds unusual…
while putting a 25-ingredient product on our skin somehow feels completely normal.
That’s one of the reasons we herbal infuse at R&R.
We take organic calendula and chamomile and slowly infuse them into our oils, allowing oil-soluble plant compounds to move into the infusion before those oils ever become your skincare.
It takes longer.
It costs more.
It would absolutely be easier to skip it.
But sometimes progress doesn’t mean abandoning everything that came before us.
Sometimes it means taking traditional knowledge, understanding it through modern science, and bringing the best parts forward.
Maybe herbs never stopped being powerful.
Maybe we just stopped paying attention. 🌿
