There’s so much history tucked into the places we pass every day in Decatur!

Did you know the Carnegie Visual Arts Center was originally Decatur’s public library? The building was completed in 1904 with funding from Andrew Carnegie and served as the community’s library for nearly 70 years. Today, it has a completely different purpose—but it’s still bringing people together through art, exhibits, classes, and community events.

More than 120 years later, this beautiful building is still part of Decatur’s story. That’s definitely something worth celebrating. ❤️

Think cooler temperatures are what make the leaves change color? Not exactly! 🍂

As the days get shorter and trees receive less sunlight, they begin producing less chlorophyll—the green pigment in leaves. As that green fades away, those beautiful yellows, oranges, and reds get their chance to show off. 🍁

So those gorgeous fall colors were basically hiding there all along. How cool is that?

A new month, a new season, and plenty to look forward to.

October brings cooler evenings, football weekends, fall festivals, Halloween fun, changing colors, and that little shift in the air that finally makes it feel like fall has arrived. 🏈🍁

It’s also a good reminder that a new month doesn’t have to mean a complete reset. Sometimes it just means a fresh chance to enjoy what’s ahead, make a few good memories, and keep moving forward.
